I am so excited to announce that I am going to start doing Bioidentical hormone pellets at our Mesa office! Not many people know that hormone pellets have been used since the 1940s and were approved by the FDA in the 1970s. However, they didn't become very popular until about 10-15 years ago. We have had great success with these pellets out of our Chandler office through Dr. Iacovelli and Kristen Branche, and now we are planning to roll out distribution not only at our Mesa office, but at the Tempe and Scottsdale offices through Dr. Horowitz as well.
Our bodies release hormones naturally in spurts as we need them. Although hormones can be Bioidentical, those taken orally, sublingually, or even through the skin are absorbed in a more even distribution method. Pellet hormones have the additional benefit of be released in spurts, as activity increases, just as they would naturally. Therefore, while someone is active, their vessels will dilate causing more absorption; then, when they are sleeping, less absorption will occur.
The process starts with a lab work up to see where patients are with their hormone levels. The actual pellet placement only takes minutes to perform, and the area is numbed with lidocaine prior to placement making for minimal discomfort. Levels are then monitored at 3 month intervals until stabilized. Pellets can last anywhere from 4-5 months depending on the individual's metabolism. Pellets come in both estradiol and testosterone, which can help relieve menopausal symptoms including hot flashes, insomnia, moodiness, vaginal dryness, decreased libido, and fatigue.
There are many options, making it easy for us to find something that works and is affordable for everyone. There is no need to suffer any longer- come in and see us!
